This wekend, our scout troop went on a camping trip up to Perdenales Falls, TX- up near Austin. From Houston, the trip took a total of 5 hours. Yet, it hadn't dawned on me until we got to the church to pack up that I had no means of music other than what was on my phone. The radio worked, but the scoutmaster Mr Carroll has a knack for changing stations in the middle of a song. But, it was his truck, his rules. I realized, had I of downloaded Spotify or Pandora, I wouldn't have been stuck listening to John's god-awful mumble rap the entire way there. (Or at least until I was able to get a signal at a Whataburger in La Grange.) So, I have taken up the liberty of providing y'all with a light driving and road trip playlist, so as you might not be stuck listening to Fetty Wap and Migos for hours on end. (And for the love of God, if I hear Despacito  one more time I'm throwing that damn phone out of the truck.) Without further a due, I give you the official 'Merica No

Last week I started on the introductory of Merica Notes. It was simple, but now I'm actually going to get the meat of the blog; that is music and artists from genres all across the board. This week will be an artist whom I grew up on and have been listening to since before elementary school.   My dad was the one that introduced me to classic rock, and when he introduced me to The Rolling Stones when I was about four years old- I knew immediately that the Stones were going to be a band I'd come to love. One such song, Jumping' Jack Flash, released on the album single of the same name in 1968 became my first favorite, never mind the fact that the album came out a good 31 years before I was ever born. I was actually in preschool at the time, and we were doing a project on what our favorite songs were. The thing is, I went to a private school at the time and so every other kid's favorite songs were "Jesus Loves Me" and "Go Tell It 'Round The Mountain&qu

The book of Psalms tells us "How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!". Music can be kind of like that. 'Merica Notes was created to drive together generations of music lovers and introduce them to tunes and artists you grew up on and songs you've never heard of. Music has a strange sense of getting folks together from all walks of life. When you're playing an album by George Straight, no one's crying over "-isms" or "-phobia" every ten seconds. Likewise, nobody cares about each others politics at a Metallica concert. That's what makes America great; is people coming together and putting aside all differences to kick back and listen to great music.   We're all Americans, and we all love music. That's what 'Merica Notes is about; God, country, and music. The Eagle 106.9 FM Outlaw Country on Sirius XM
