1/4/18 Foxes And Peppers

Merry Christmas, happy new year, it's 2018! It's been a while since I last posted here on MericaNotes, coincidentally I haven't reviewed an artist in quite some time. To kick off the new year, instead of taking to a resolution that you'll only keep for a week, why not instead listen to an artist you'll never forget? And not just one, but two artists whom I truly have an appreciation for. You may not have heard of them before, but they've met and played for the likes of Daniel Craig and JK Rowling. I'm referring to the duo that is Jared Clark (Pepper Coyote) and Iain Armour (Fox Amoore).
While recently collaborating together on the album Hashtag, going unofficially under the name Foxes And Peppers for their duo, both artists have done some incredible work with their music individually as well as collaboratively. This week, I've decided to take a new direction and review both artists. I absolutely love their music, and I'd be doing an injustice to leave one or the other out.

Let me start off with Fox Amoore, a full time composer, keyboardist, and pianist from Scotland. As if that weren't 'renaissance man' material enough, he's played internationally both as a solo artist and the keyboardist for Paul McCartney and the Wings tribute band. Not to mention the fact that Amoore is also the entertainment director and pianist for the Queen's Hotel in Scotland. His music primarily focuses on original classical which have been featured in several video games as well as spawning a 2009 documentary about him and his music entitled "That's Amoore". The documentary also received three honors in the UK's Film and Animation category for most favorited, most viewed, and highest rated on release date. His discography, which dates back as far as 2004, includes numerous successful tracks and respective albums. One of which, the album "The Dreamcatcher" (2017) is among my favorites by him and is recognized as his most popular solo album. He also collaborated heavily in the 2011 album "Bitter Lake". I wasn't much of a classical fan until I heard of Fox Amoore; and since then I've been hooked.

In addition to Amoore, Jared Clark (AKA Pepper Coyote) is the mastermind behind the Phoenix, AZ based band Look Left formed in 2008 with Pepper on vocals and acoustic guitar. Since graduating college however, he has since pursued a solo career in music. Although he has produced a number fewer albums than Amoore, this is not to say his albums haven't seen tremendous success. His 2015 album "Blast Radius", inspired from the game Fallout 4 and seamlessly mingled with overtly adult themes from...a certain company...saw much positive feedback. Despite being his first professionally released solo album, "Blast Radius" was a hit. Again in 2016, Pepper released his 2nd studio album (and also my favorite) entitled "Hashtag", in which he collaborated with Fox Amoore to produce the amazing 14 track album which saw even higher ratings than his previous works. "Hashtag" is an album which perfectly combines folk and progressive rock with a touch of jazz and even a subtle bit of gospel. As one of my favorite progressive rock and folk albums, even one of my favorite albums in general, I highly recommend giving it a listen. His 3rd and most recent album called "Muh" was released in December of 2017, and although the album is still fairly new- the reviews so far from fans and of myself have been great. "Muh" is a full length, 12 track album. (Also available on vinyl).

In the future, we can only hope to see Foxes and Peppers collaborating more on new and fantastic albums. It only gets better and better.
