5/1/18 Freaky Friday

‘He’s not like a ‘rapper’ rapper,” the guy in the restaurant explains to his unimpressed girlfriend. “He’s like a ‘funny’ rapper.” Those two statements – true and open to debate respectively – are from the opening scene of the video to Lil Dicky’s Freaky Friday, which is this week’s UK No 1 single, and which currently sits at over 177 million views on Youtube, and will soon join its thriftiness-espousing predecessor $ave Dat Money in passing the same number of Spotify plays.

Freaky Friday tells the story of Lil Dicky mystically swapping bodies with rapper Chris Brown. One of the top 10 in Billboard’s top 100 hits, Lil Dicky’s ‘Freaky Friday’ gave fans a humorous insight into the lives of big-time celebrities versus those of smaller artists. Several cameos in Freaky Friday are present including that of DJ Khaled, Ed Sheehan, and some Kardashian/Jenner puke. In essence, the two go around joyfully enjoying their new bodies, doing all the things the other could never originally do because of their skin tone. This last for the first half of the video before Chris Brown (in Lil Dicky's body) realizes his new responsibilities and tries to get the waiter at the Chinese restaurant to change the two back.

Today is Valentine's Day, but this is not about that... I've recently heard this song by a relatively new rapper by the name of Tom MacDonald. I've also heard the cries of so many people on the internet labelling this song as "white guilt", "racist", and "cultural appropriation". To be perfectly honest, I love this song. Everybody wants to sh*t on Tom MacDonald because he's telling the truth. God forbid a white man be able to discuss race in 2018. I think the real reason everybody feels the need to hate on this song is because it takes on a subject that nobody thinks any white person should talk about. It's sad to me that in 2018 I'm not allowed to have on opinion on racism, yet I'm blamed for it. Racism can come from any race, not just white people. If someone is too stupid to grasp that fact, maybe the should take a good look at the NBPP, or South Africa, or the Middle East, or Antifa, or any gang in Chicago.   We can'

This wekend, our scout troop went on a camping trip up to Perdenales Falls, TX- up near Austin. From Houston, the trip took a total of 5 hours. Yet, it hadn't dawned on me until we got to the church to pack up that I had no means of music other than what was on my phone. The radio worked, but the scoutmaster Mr Carroll has a knack for changing stations in the middle of a song. But, it was his truck, his rules. I realized, had I of downloaded Spotify or Pandora, I wouldn't have been stuck listening to John's god-awful mumble rap the entire way there. (Or at least until I was able to get a signal at a Whataburger in La Grange.) So, I have taken up the liberty of providing y'all with a light driving and road trip playlist, so as you might not be stuck listening to Fetty Wap and Migos for hours on end. 2/12/18 Team USA's Playlist

Alex Deibold, 31, has some unfinished business at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The 31-year-old snowboarder, who first hopped on skis when he was just 2 years old and started snowboarding at age 4, nearly made Team USA in 2010, only to just miss the cut. But, undeterred, he stormed back four years later at the 2014 games in Sochi, where he took home a bronze medal in the men's snowboardcross event. Since then, he's been training as hard as he can to land on the medal stand again -- that is, when he's not mountain biking, backpacking, rock climbing, surfing or working at the Sports Garage bike shop in Boulder, Colorado, in the off-season. Deibold sent Billboard his training playlist before jetting off to Pyeongchang, admitting that it is a little "all over the place."
